paws volunteer calendar

For information of volunteers, here is the calendar of activities for the last week of May 2009:

May 28 (Thursday) - 1:30pm Cross examination of first witness in the dogfighting case at Antipolo City Hall of Justice. Volunteers welcome to attend and proceed directly to venue wearing PAWS pin or shirt.
May 28 (Thursday)- 2pm Pasay City Hall of Justice - Third Investigative hearing re: dog murdered in front of owner in Pasay City. Volunteers welcome to attend and proceed directly to venue wearing PAWS pin or shirt. Look for Ms. Gwen Protasio at the waiting lounge.
May 28 (Thursday) - 8 -11 pm San Andres Sports complex, Manila - PAWS is named one of the 2009 Awardees or Earth Day Achieveers for Environmental Heroism. Volunteers welcome to attend but please coordinate with PARC by calling 475-1688 or emailing philpaws@yahoo. com
May 30 (Saturday) - "Dine with PAWS" at SM Mall of Asia, Music Hall - No additional volunteers needed aside from those already given assignments and briefed. Important note: All attendees must be ticket-holders. Last few days to sell tickets to help PAWS or purchase your own tickets to attend this event! Email philpaws@yahoo. com for orders now.
May 31 (Sunday) - 2.30pm Chihuahua Movie - DVD Launch at The Block. PAWS gives kiddie talk on "How to Meet a Dog", Responsible Pet Ownership and Pet Adoptions. Volunteers who will meet at PARC at 12.30pm to help the team that goes to this event must email elaraneta@yahoo. com
Ongoing shelter work - office work, animal care, rehab and training - at PARC daily except Sundays and this Saturday, May 30, when the shelter is closed in preparation for the PAWS fundraiser that evening.

new tasks for new and old volunteers




Welcome greetings to the new volunteers who were oriented last Saturday, January 10, 2008! =)
I know all of you are rarin' to do work- whether it's helping out at the shelter or participating in our other programs so here's a list of upcoming activities and tasks and other details you have to know. Unless otherwise stated, emails should be sent to philpaws@yahoo. com :
1. Assisting Ateneo student volunteers for shelter work projects
January 17 (10:00 am-5:00 pm), February 7 (10:00 am-5:00 pm), and14 (1:00pm-5:00pm).

Ateneo contact person : Ma. Gene Cruz
Action: Send email with title - "Ateneo Students Shelter Work" and your full name in the body of the email. All pertinent info and instructions will be sent to you.
Please show up at the shelter on the said confirmed dates and inform the office person or log in when you arrive at the shelter before you seek out contact person to assist.
2. Assisting in and being an observer for the Humane Education Session on January 30 - Apples and Oranges Preschool in P Tuazon (Near QC Rotonda), Quezon City - 8:30am to 11:00am
Need two (2) Doctor Dogs
Action: Send email with title - "Jan 31 Apples and Oranges volunteer " and your full name and celfone number in the body of the email on or before January 16.
3.Assisting International School volunteers for shelter work projects
February 7, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17- 10 am to 3pm

Action: Send email with title "IS Shelter Work" and your full name in the body of the email. Show up on the said dates and time, inform the office person or log in when you arrive at the shelter.
4. Manning the PHINMA (Rockwell) Adoption Booth on January 21 (1 to 5pm) and International School adoption booth on January 31(afternoon)
Action: Send email with title "IS Adoption Booth-Jan 31" or "PHINMA Adoption Booth-Jan 21" and your full name in the body of the email.
5. Secretarial duties at the shelter on January 30 (afternoon) and January 31 (10 am to 6pm)
Action: Get instructions by briefly going to shelter on January 29 (anytime between 1pm to 6pm)
6. Research and making flyers, posters
Action: Make sample flyer on any of the following topics (make file only about 600KB in size) and send to iam.gwen@yahoo. com by January 20, 2009.
  • Facts about Allergies (People need not give up their pets and can live with allergies and pets)
  • Advantages of Spay-Neuter for One's Pets
  • Anti-Dog Chaining (Caging) Flyer
7. Phone Follow-Ups for PAWS - calls which you can make from your house or office
Action: Get list from PARC on January 16 (anytime between 1pm to 4pm) and receive all instructions
8. Selling tickets to our fundraiser, Dine with PAWS (scheduled for May 2at the SM Mall of Asia, Music Hall).
Action- Email: rich_ilustre@ yahoo.com with your full name, mobile number and mention the date (or year) of your orientation and the number of tickets you think you can sell. Tickets are priced at P2000 each.
9. "Bleach and Detergent Powder" Drive for PAWS - The shelter is in dire need of bleach and detergent powder
Action: Email katyaraneta@ gmail.com to inform us that you are collecting these items for PAWS and to have a running list of donor's names and emails, and the target date of delivery to the shelter which should be no later than February 10.
10. Clinic Assistant
Action: Please see Doc Wil January 17, 11 am to receive instructions at the PAWS Clinic. Requirement: Volunteer must not be queasy about blood or handling animals
