Below is Tin Choi's response to Kenny's story. Hope this also helps others who may have dogs that need treatment for their beloved pets' skin condition. =)
Kenny's mange treatment |
Hello, I saw your post on Kenny, the mangy lab, and I was just so touched by his story. I really hope he finds the loving home he deserves soon. My own dog was diagnosed with demodectic mange a few months ago, and she was successfully treated with just herbs -- not because I was trying to save money, but because I really believed chemicals like Amitraz & ivermectin might do more harm in the long run. You probably already know this but madre de cacao is a pretty well-known cure for demodectic mange. What we did was crush madre de cacao leaves to extract the juices, then heated it with VCO. When it started to boil, we let it cool, then strained the leaves out. The VCO/madre de cacao mixture, we "painted" on our dog's affected areas 2-3x a day. If Kenny's patches are really itchy, you can try adding some kalawag/turmeric as it helps soothe itchiness. For a more complete "recipe," you can check DTO and look for "Kalawag Potion" if you're interested in trying this solution (it includes other herbs like aloe vera, etc). You can also help boost Kenny's immune system with vitamins like Vit B, C, E, and fish oil softgels. This is what I used to treat my own dog. Hope I don't come off as preachy, it's just that so many people helped me when my own dog had mange, that whenever I see issues like this, I always try to share what I did to treat my own dog, in the hopes that it will help others well. May I also say that I've been following your posts on other shelter dogs, and I really admire your passion in helping these unfortunate creatures out. I wish I could do more to help, but due to geographic constraints (I'm based in Bacolod), there seems to be not much I can do. Once again, I hope Kenny (as well as the others) find the forever homes they deserve soon. |

hi! i 'd like to share the treatment i used on maruh, my siberian husky who had the same affliction (when my korean neighbor left her with me).
this treatment was used by my friend on her mom's mouth sores and no treatment nor antibiotics seemed to work so they tried this simple herbal treatment.
crush several malunggay leaves and sift the juice using gauze cloth and generously apply to afflicted areas. your pet will surely lick the afflicted areas so be sure to use a safety collar. you will be amazed because the treated areas are almost dry the following day!
malunggay leaves are known to be wonder herbs because it's a "cure all" treatment for almost all afflictions of humans and pets.
