Dear friends,
As part of our celebration of International Spay Day, PAWS is offering free neutering of pets at the PAWS Shelter http://parc.mefindhome.org for February 26 and 27, 2009.
Male dogs can only be accommodated on the morning of February 26.
Male cats will be scheduled on February 27.
Call us at 475-1688 for scheduling and please make sure to leave your name, phone number and a brief message on our answering machine (comes on after 5 rings).
A maximum of 2 pets per person, please.
Kindly be reminded of the following:
- Male pets must be completely healthy.
- Male pets must not be fed or given water 12 hours prior to operation
- Male pets must be in secure cages or carriers (properly labeled with the owner's name and contact numbers) when brought to the shelter at the designated time.
- Scheduling is IMPORTANT: Unscheduled pets (whose owners did not call to leave messages on our answering machine by February 25, 5pm) may not be accommodated for Spay Day/s and may be advised to avail of our regular low-cost neuter rates the following week.
Yesterday, we were at the Batasan National High School in QC for our short talk on Rabies Prevention, Spay-Neuter and Responsible Pet Ownership. Not a lot of students are aware that neutering is possible for pets, and that "kapon" is a humane procedure done by a licensed veterinarian. (Most students are aware of "kapon" only as a cruel method done with rubberbands in the provinces.)
We have our work cut out for us and we need everyone's help in promoting spay-neuter of all companion animals. Please do your share in forwarding or printing out and posting the attached poster.
Thank you!

ABOUT INTERNATIONAL SPAY DAY
What: An annual campaign of Humane Society International to inspire people to save animal lives by spaying or neutering pets and street animals.

Day Pet Photo Contest allow even more
animals to be spayed or neutered after
Spay Day is over, continuing Spay Day's
impact throughout the year.
When: Officially the last Tuesday of February, with events and activities taking place throughout the month of February. The second annual Spay Day International (and 15th annual Spay Day USA) is Feb. 24, 2009.
Where: Worldwide.
Why: Millions of cats and dogs are needlessly euthanized each year. They may be street animals, or the offspring of cherished family pets, even purebreds. Maybe someone's cat or dog got out just that one time or maybe the litter was intentional, but efforts to find enough good homes failed. Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100 percent effective method of birth control for dogs and cats and a proven way to reduce the vast numbers of animals who are born only to die prematurely and without a family who loves them. Learn more about why you should spay or neuter your pet..
